Arrival in Kuala Lumpur

Meeting at the airport

To celebrate reaching 1M subscribers on YouTube, I invited a subscriber to join me on a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was a super cool experience for me, as in just 3 days, we went from strangers to really good friends. We shared so many hilarious moments off-camera, and I left this trip truly believing that this wouldn’t be the last time we traveled together. It served as a powerful reminder that behind every subscriber is a person. I know things have grown around here, and sometimes you might think your comments go unnoticed, but they really don’t. I read almost all the comments and feedback and appreciate every bit of it. I am truly grateful for you and can’t wait to share more travels with you.

Stay at a penthouse in Kuala Lumpur

After arriving at the Kuala Lumpur airport, we met up and made our way to our accommodation – a double deluxe penthouse that we scored for about $80 a night. It was a steal for the beautiful space we had. The penthouse had an amazing workspace, but with our packed travel itinerary, we didn’t have much time to use it. We were exhausted from our long journeys, but we were excited to start exploring the city the next day.

Exploring the City

Visiting a Hindu site

On our first day in Kuala Lumpur, we headed to a Hindu site in the city. Malaysia is known for its cultural diversity, and this site showcased the vibrant architecture and colors of the Hindu culture. The site was filled with intricate sculptures and beautiful designs. It was a mesmerizing experience to witness the blend of cultures in Kuala Lumpur.

Exploring a food court in a mall

Next, we decided to explore a food court in a mall. Malaysia is a food lover’s paradise, and we wanted to immerse ourselves in the local cuisine. We tried different dishes like Tom Yum, a spicy Thai soup, and various Malaysian dishes with spices and curry noodles. One standout dish for us was the fried chicken – it was crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The food court was bustling with people, and we loved being part of the lively atmosphere.

Change of Plans

Original plan to visit Sky Mirror

Originally, we had planned to visit a place called Sky Mirror, which is known for its beautiful reflection of the skies in the sand and water. However, we made a mistake in our planning. Sky Mirror is only accessible for two days of the month due to the lunar tides, and we missed out on the opportunity to visit.

Change of plans due to timing

Despite the change of plans, we didn’t let it dampen our spirits. We decided to make the most of our time in Kuala Lumpur and explore other attractions and experiences the city had to offer.

Petronas Towers

Visit to the iconic Petronas Towers

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the iconic Petronas Towers. These towers were the tallest buildings in the world in 2004 and are still the world’s tallest twin towers. The architecture and design of the towers were absolutely stunning. We were in awe of their grandeur and beauty.

Mention cost and view from the top

Unfortunately, there was a two-hour wait to go up to the top of the towers. However, we decided to come back later in the day to take in the breathtaking view. The cost was well worth it for the experience of seeing Kuala Lumpur from such heights.

Food Experiences

Trying Tom Yum and Malaysian dishes

As food lovers, we couldn’t resist trying the local cuisine in Kuala Lumpur. We indulged in dishes like Tom Yum, a spicy Thai soup, and various Malaysian delicacies. The flavors were bold and powerful, filled with spices and curry. It was a taste sensation that we won’t forget.

Mentioning fried chicken dish

One standout dish that we both fell in love with was the fried chicken. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and bursting with flavor. The combination of spices and seasonings made it the perfect comfort food.

Exploring commercial area of Bukit Bintang

One of the best areas for shopping and exploring in Kuala Lumpur is Bukit Bintang. This commercial area is filled with malls, shops, and vibrant street markets. We spent hours wandering around, immersing ourselves in the hustle and bustle of the city and finding unique souvenirs to take back home.

Visiting Jalan Alor for cheap and good food options

For cheap and delicious food options, we visited Jalan Alor, a popular street filled with food stalls and restaurants. It was a food lover’s paradise, with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. We tried everything from pork buns to Peking Duck and were blown away by the flavors.

Mentioning the smell of durian fruit

One unique experience we had was trying durian, a notoriously smelly fruit. The smell was quite strong and took some getting used to, but the taste was surprisingly delicious. It had a custard-like texture and a sweet, creamy flavor. It’s definitely an acquired taste, but we were glad we tried it.

Trying various dishes like pork buns and Peking Duck

In addition to durian, we also tried various other dishes during our time in Kuala Lumpur. Some notable mentions include the pork buns, which were fluffy and filled with savory pork, and the Peking Duck, which was crispy and flavorful. These culinary experiences added another layer to our adventures in the city.

Enjoying Tiger beer

To top off our food experiences, we couldn’t resist enjoying some local beverages. One of the standout choices was Tiger beer, a popular Malaysian beer. It was the perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring and indulging in delicious food.

Staying in Kuala Lumpur

Recommendation to stay in a place with a rooftop pool

If you’re planning a trip to Kuala Lumpur, I highly recommend choosing accommodation with a rooftop pool. Not only does it provide a stunning view of the city skyline, but it also offers a relaxing and luxurious way to unwind after a day of exploring. Being able to overlook the Petronas Towers from the rooftop pool was an unforgettable experience.

Overlooking the Petronas Towers

From the rooftop pool, we had an incredible view of the Petronas Towers. Their grandeur and beauty were even more breathtaking from this vantage point. It was a surreal experience to take a dip in the pool while gazing at one of the most iconic landmarks in the world.
